After having a collection of bad experiences in these distortions, Memo is a bit leery about heading into this one-- especially with all the thunder and lightning. His mom likes to tell stories about crazy tourists who sit on the coasts and watch the hurricanes roll in, but his family always had more self-preservation, she said.

Of course he was no longer really a part of his family, but anyhow. Curiosity and satisfaction and the cat, and all that.

So it was little surprise to him that shit started happening not two seconds after he pressed through the bubble, the sound around him simultaneously dampening while becoming electrified and sharp at the same time. One of his pokeballs vibrated and out popped his White-stripe Basculin, Titanic, who had flopped into his face and broken his nose during the last distortion.

Except Titanic was… titanic. Nigh-on ten foot long and with large, sad eyes, she thrashed hard enough to make the ground shake. Memo yelped and jumped aside, wrangling out her Pokeball mid roll and pulling her back to safety in a beam of light.

He was sweating, he realized; his new Titanic was large enough to crush his skull should she thwack him in the face. Not interested in testing the waters anymore, he beat a hasty retreat.

Sootopolis is struggling through its own problems on account of Kyogre cultists and the aftermath of the Darkest Day, but Gavin still finds time in his schedule to head out to Mauville as soon as he learns of the power outages.

His intention is to track down oscar clayton and ask if there's any way he might assist, but first... the distortion.

They've been occurring infrequently, but enough have appeared to identify certain patterns. Certain Pokemon that might be affected, such as the Rufflet he'd bred from the hatchery with Martín del Mar. He tosses the poor little bird into the line of fire: trial by combat.

It does well in defending itself, earning a brilliant evolution into a BRAVIARY the likes of which Gavin has only seen with Mars. Its colouration has also changed, which he figures might be a-typical.

In the aftermath, Gavin searches around, and sure enough finds a strange yellow shard. That makes four, then...

The only thing more iconic than random phenomena hitting Hoenn out of nowhere, were the children that felt the need to rush headlong into said phenomena. It was a tradition Hideo had no intention of breaking - in part because was already in Mauville when the distortion began.

Hideo had been in enough of these to bring more than adequate protection; he was flanked by a Torterra and a Bastiodon, the two tanky Pokemon able to fend off any random Pokemon that saw fit to attack them. Would either of them be changed by the distortion, like his Arcanine had? Only one way to find out.

Hideo felt his foot hit an object. Picking it up, he realized it felt the same as those other three shards he'd found in the previous distortions. Was it the same color as one of those shards, or was it a new color?

He'd have to wait until he got back to his camp to find out. He stowed the shard in his bag as he continued on. To his eventual disappointment, neither of his Pokemon would be changed - not physically, at least.

yes, lets go into another distortion, because she definitely will not die here. not at all. nope, nada. thankfully, she doesn't have to worry too much, since she can catch a glimpse of a tiny, white zorua peeking out from behind a rock.

were she not a (selective) mute, she would have squealed at how cute it was, and how harmless it was (never minding out dangerous these little critters could be). still, it's something that she must bring back home! and probably show to ryan. definitely show to ryan.

Mauville erupts in chaos, just as Lex is trying to get her work done. The job is rudely interrupted by a Space-Time Distortion that centers itself over the Power Plant. There had been rumors of more ghost-type pokemon shift forms within them, so it doesn’t take her long to decide to venture back into the chaos.

Despite there being very little water around, a pokeball cracks open amidst the wild winds and snarling pokemon. The White Stripe Basculin flops aimlessly for just a moment before something curious happens. Once in the air, a bright light concumes it, replacing the once small fish pokemon with a large, more frightening beast. The Basculegion poises itself, snapping its jaws together while letting loose a WAVE CRASH across the Power Plant’s cement to drive off a charging pokemon.

Lex smiles, content with her new ghostly addition.

If only they could predict these things! She and angelo vestri were certainly trying, but Eva was a bit late to the party on this one. Just as she had planned, she brought the Voltorb she snatched trying to steal berries from her garden.

The releases the pokemon in a flash of light. Wind whipped wildly around her, tossing it into a tornado of blonde. The Voltorb rolled around unexpectantly, mostly confused as to why it was suddenly in the midst of chaos. Eva didn’t have to wait long for the unseen power of the distortions to take a hold of it. Whatever time they found themselves in, the pokemon matched. With another flash of light, the sphere grew in size, evolving into a HISUIAN ELECTRODE. The dual type rolled back around before stopping in front of her. The large eyes blinked twice before she returned the pokemon back to its pokeball.

Beneath where it ‘stood’ a shard of yellow glistened in the faint light. Eva picked it up before venturing further into the distortion, on the hunt for more answers.
